Just in Case
I never leave home without some little project in my handbag to work on should the opportunity present itself. Those opportunities happen more often than one might expect. Stuck in standstill traffic? Waiting in a seemingly endless line? Fretting over your son who might have broken his hand and waiting for doctors in the ER to take care of him?
Yes, the injured hand thing happened yesterday.
Thank goodness I had this hand-sewing project with me. This is part of one of my longest standing UFO’s ever. It’s a boxy jacket from one of the BurdaStyle magazines. I had intended to embellish the pocket flaps and collar with petersham ribbon, but got sidetracked. The project certainly got back on track yesterday. I basted the ribbon to the fabric and started hand-stitching it down.
Thankfully, my son is OK. He has to wear a splint for a week due to concerns about a hairline fracture in his hand, but I suspect he’ll mend up quickly.
