Climbing Vines Pullover
Knitting / Posted on June 6th, 2010
If you’ve looked at my sidebar sometime in the past few days, you may have noticed I’ve started a ridiculous number of new knitting projects. I don’t know what got into me. One day, I could barely bring myself to pick up yarn and needles; the next, I could barely bring myself to put them down. Hundreds of fascinating knitting projects caught my attention and it’s a minor miracle that I restrained myself from casting on for even more than I did.
Then, a day or so passed, and after looking at that long list of unfinished projects, I began to feel somewhat panicky. I HAD to finish something to regain control and so I picked up the project closest to being done and worked at it until it was. Here is my climbing vines pullover (Ravelry link)!
It’s an easy project and I’m pleased at how it turned out. Look at the vines running up the front piece:
Neat, huh? They were fun to knit.
I used some lovely Dream in Color Classy for this project. It didn’t pool at all, so I didn’t have to alternate skeins, which made this project even more pleasant to work on. I really dislike alternating skeins. Such a pain. If you decide to work with this yarn someday, be aware that it will grow on you when washed; however, it shrunk down to its original dimensions when it dried. Some knitters on Ravelry had different experiences with the washing/growing than I did, so you’ll want to wash and block your swatch to get a sense of how it will behave for you.
Unlike the original, I made my sleeves full length. I think they’re more flattering on my monkey arms. I do like how the original sweater was styled in the magazine, though.
I’d like to sew a pretty ruffled blouse like the one the model is wearing. Someday…after I finish the million-and-one projects in my queue!

Oh, my! That is a beautiful pullover. That shade of green is decadent and really love the vine detail. Job well done!

Pretty! That colour is amazing on you and I love the vine detail, and agree the long sleeves are more flattering. Lovely job!

Hi Amy, great sweater! It looks great and the color definitely flatters you. I always love reading your posts and I’ve tagged you in a game of eight questions. It’s silly (and fun!) but I’d love to read your responses if you’d like to play.
