Funky Tank Top
Knitting / Posted on October 17th, 2008
I started this tank top three years ago. Kids have this habit of growing, which is a big problem for slow-poke knitters like myself.
Sam, the intended recipient couldn’t squeeze into the darned thing.
Luckily, I have a second and smaller child, who just happens to love rainbows (That’s been her latest thing during the thankful thing. She’s glad there are rainbows in this world.)
Why did it take me so long to knit such a small and easy sweater? Well, it’s made from cotton. Cotton makes my hands ache in the worst way. Lesson learned.
It turned out pretty cute, but I do wish I had paid closer attention to how the pattern set up the ribbing. I would have worked it differently, so there wouldn’t be a break in the pattern at the side seams.
The pattern is from Zoe Mellor’s Adorable Knits for Tots. I used Rowan Handknit DK – a lovely cotton yarn for people with the strength to handle it. Me? Not so much. Give me wool anyday.

They do grow (too) fast, don’t they!? Your darling daughter looks adorable in it. I’m thankful for rainbows, too. I am surprised you took on Cotton knitting! Good for you for getting it done… now… more wool less cotton.

That vest is so cheery, and it looks fabulous on your little girl!

Hi! I just started reading your blog. I’m not sure how I got here, but “hello.” That is a super cute sweater. Glad you found someone to wear it! I hear you about the cotton, wool is much more elastic and forgiving.
