On Pins and Needles

General May 21st, 2007

We put our house on the market about a week and a half ago. It’s been extremely stressful trying to keep the place neat and clean and two little kids happy with the additional restrictions placed on them. One real estate agent told us that our house wouldn’t last a week on the market, because it was in such great condition. Now that it has sat there longer than that, I’m starting to fret that no one will want it and we can’t pursue our dream to get into a larger home in a better neighborhood.

Being partially uprooted like this has me obsessing over domestic activities. I’ve started sewing again.

Pins and Needles

I made this pin cushion, (mostly) following the instructions at the Purl Bee.

Even though I used the recommended heavy duty quilting thread, it snapped on me two times before I figured out I’d have to do something drastic to get the body cinched up properly. In the end, I doubled the thread and tied it off BEFORE attempting to stuff it. It worked like a charm.

I finished the top off with the buttonhole stitch–I just had to make it my own in some way! :) I’m not crazy about the fabric. It’s a little too busy for my taste, but I’m feeling rather virtuous for using up a scrap of material that was just gathering dust in my closet.
