Belated Birthday
I really deserved a pity party on my actual birthday. There’s nothing quite like having the stomach flu/food poisoning to throw a damper on things. I was still in a little bit of funk about that yesterday–it’s not easy growing older! So, I decided to treat myself to something special. I bought myself a copy of Nancy Bush’s Knitting on the Road. What a wonderful book! I’m excited about knitting socks right now since my making waves socks are turning out nicely. I’ve also got some gorgeous Lorna’s Laces and Mountain Colors yarn sitting in my stash for which I’ve been trying to dream up marvelous projects. I think I’ll use the Lorna’s Laces to make the Conwy socks and the Mountain Colors for the Friday Harbor socks. I wish I knit faster so I could get started on them!
Even better, my parents showed up yesterday afternoon bearing gifts:

They brought me the wonderful Lantern Moon basket made by Vietnamese artisans and two Rowan books. I’m totally ga-ga over everything in the Vintage Style book. I want to knit it all! My favorites are Joy, Fleur, Collette and Oriel. I really really really love Joy and may go ahead and knit it despite the fact that it’s done on size 2 and 3 needles and involves thousands of beads…I must be nuts!
(I’ll try to find links to to all of the designs when I have more time.)
P.S. Thank you for your input regarding my Sophie Bag. I’m going to felt her this weekend. For those of you who asked, I’m using a multi-colored version of Manos. I’m not sure what the color is, since I tossed the ball bands (silly me). Anyway, I understand Manos makes a really neat fabric once it’s felted. It sure is nice to knit with!
