Over Labor Day weekend, Robert worked like a slave building a couple of raised beds for our nascent vegetable garden.  He follwed the plans provided in an editorial titled Noble Rot by John Mackenzie (it’s interesting to me that a gardening “how-to” was posted on a financial website…).  The author has had great success growing [...]

Our family has been working through a monumental shift in perspective, initiated by Robert’s investigation into the problem of peak oil. When he first broached the subject with me, I was tremendously resistant to the whole idea. Oh, come on, Robert. Surely, if it’s that big of a deal, we’d be hearing about it all [...]

Happy birthday, Sam! I’m still in a state of disbelief that you’re four years old now. How did time go by so quickly?  You’ve grown into the most charming, lovable and loving boy any family could wish for! I still remember the day you were born, as if it were yesterday…how I worked until 3pm [...]

Don't think. Thinking is the enemy of creativity. It's self-conscious, and anything self-conscious is lousy. You can't try to do things. You simply must do things.

    • February Lady Sweater 14 March 2014

02/17/13 - It’s definitely on the small side. I would prefer more ease, but think I’ll get some wear out of this sweater. I also think it may have been a poor choice in project for me. While it was fun to knit, the FO reminds me a little too much of maternity wear. On to BIGGER and BETTER things :)

02/12/13 - Unblocked, this fits my 8 yo daughter. Hopefully, it will fit me post-blocking. I don’t usually use this many pins when blocking a sweater, but I’m determined to boss my knitting around.

If it fits me, when done, then that’s ok. If it fits my daughter when done, that’s ok too. If it fits neither of us, I’m going to be a sad little knitter.

When I cast on for this, I was concerned about the super wash yarn growing a lot during the blocking process. Now that I’ve mostly knit the sweater, I’m concerned that it’s not going to grow enough. It’s rather small.
