We’re all smiles here:

I’m feeling better. It’s overcast and drizzly outside, which always makes me feel perky. I LOVE the rain. So sue me. I didn’t choose to live in the Pacific Northwest for nothing. :umbrella:
I’ve also come up with a plan of action for a project that has had me stumped. I’ve swatched and swatched and swatched and swatched again for Anouk, but cannot match the gauge. The swatch I like the look of best is knit at a gauge of five stitches per inch and seven rows per inch (20/28). The pattern gauge is 18 sts/26.5 rows = 4 inches, i.e. 4.5 stitches per inch. When I use larger needles, I can match the row gauge, but not the stitch gauge and my fabric becomes “sleazy” looking.
After numerous discussions with Kate, the fabulous designer, and Julia and Leigh, I’ve decided that my best course of action will be to try to convert the pattern to my gauge. I’ve never attempted this before, and am a bit nervous about it, but will give it a go anyhow. After all, if I screw it up, it’s easy enough to send it to the frog pond! :frog:
I’ve done a little number crunching and think I’ll be able to get away with the following: I’ll use the number of stitches given for the 12 month size and the length measurements for the 3 month size.
Why does it seem like a recipe for disaster, now that I’ve committed it to pixels? I will forge blindly ahead, nevertheless.
P.S. Thank you very, very much, Kate, Julia and Leigh! I really appreciate all your help!!!!
Today is Sam’s first day at his new daycare. I was a little apprehensive about how he would handle being left in a new place with new people, but I shouldn’t have been. He was a little bit shy at first, but eventually started talking to his teacher, so I know he’s going to be fine.
So, it’s just me, Claire and Elfin today.
You don’t suppose leaving out a plate of cookies and a glass of milk would induce any elves (elfins?) to come sew up this sweater for me, do you? Maybe it’s just the fact that I’ve never sewn together an adult-sized sweater before, but it sure seems like there is a lot of finishing work that needs to be done on this cardigan. Argh. It’s going to take FOREVER!
All of the work is going to be worth it though. The ruffles around the front band are so pretty! I told my husband that if I didn’t end up wearing the sweater much, I would detach the collar and wear it as a scarf. He thinks I’m nuts. I think it looks pretty good as a scarf, don’t you?
