Two Month Visit
General May 22nd, 2004
I took Claire to the doctor yesterday for her two-month check up. She’s doing great! She’s now 22 1/2″ tall, which puts her in the 55th percentile. Her head circumference is 14 1/2″, which is average. She weighs eight pounds and 13 ounces. I’ve been concerned about how little she weighs compared to other babies her age. She is only in the tenth percentile for weight. Some newborns weigh more than she does. The doctor told me not to worry about it, though. She’s only a couple of ounces short of being at the 25th percentile, which was where she started out at birth. The important thing is she has been putting on weight. He believes she’ll really start packing on the pounds once we start supplementing with formula, which we’ll do once I return to work.

I’m feeling discouraged with my knitting. I “finished” Elfin yesterday afternoon and tried her on. She fits okay, unfortunately the hooks and eyes do not provide very good closure–at least with the way I have them sewn on currently. Click here
to see what I’m talking about. I had them sewn farther away from the edges previously, but they caused the edges to curl out most unattractively. I’m not sure how to remedy this problem.
And what’s the deal with the collar curling outward so you can see the wrong side? I have pressed and re-pressed the damn collar according to the book’s instructions three times! The rotten yarn is defying all my attempts to smash it into obedience. GRRR.
At least Sam is having a good time today. His daycare has made arrangements for the kids to dress up in western cowboy gear and to go on pony rides. I can’t wait to see the photos!! :ridemcowboy:

See, I do actually finish some things! Okay, it’s not Elfin (and it really should be since I only have to finish sewing on the hooks and eyes), but I still enjoyed a sense of accomplishment during the garment’s brief period of existence. However, as soon as the photo was taken, I started frogging the thing. As cute as the Spring Fling Tank looks on Alison, it is not a flattering look on me. I’ll be using the GGH Esprit for a cute pullover I found in Rebecca No. 24. Hopefully, it will suit me better! :flowerhat:
Last night at the Purlygirls Stitch and Bitch, I worked a little bit on Anouk. This project is making me feel like I cannot knit at all. I cannot get the gauge to come out right and I’m really struggling to keep the stitches looking somewhat neat and tidy. As soft as the Cascade Pima Tencel is, it is not easy to handle. Mistakes show up in a glaring fashion.
One of the other gals at the Stitch and Bitch was also working on Anouk, but she was using navy blue as her main color and a nice mercerised cotton. I’m looking forward to seeing how it will turn out!
Thank you for voting in the Tank Top Poll. I’ve decided to knit Smooch and will be in good company with Jody!
