Doctor's Appointment – 38th Week

General March 16th, 2004

Good news! My cervix has dilated to 3 cm. and is about 70% effaced. Claire has moved a little bit sideways in the womb, but it’s nothing that a few strong contractions won’t correct. My doctor also stripped my membranes to help get the contractions going, so our baby girl may make her appearance very soon! :butterfly:

Presents of Mind?

Cooking, Knitting March 16th, 2004

Time seems to be passing very slowly. It feels like the month of December did when I was a little girl counting the days until Christmas…only this is worse since I don’t know the exact date when my baby girl will arrive. I will see the doctor yet again today and hopefully there will be some signs of progress.

A few lovely gifts for Claire have been turning up:

Gifts for Claire

While staying with me during these last few weeks of pregnancy, my mother knit the fluffy bunny slippers and sewed the lion doll. Sonja, a kind lady I met via the internet, created the hand-embroidered pillow and blanket using vintage fabrics. They’re absolutely wonderful!

I’ve done a fair bit of knitting lately as well. I finished the first sleeve for Elfin, but the thought of tackling the ruffles for the second sleeve nearly undid me, so I opted to work on the sporty jacket for my son. I can only do small sections of it at a time because the stiff yarn is so hard on my arm. If anyone can recommend a good source for zippers, I’d be very grateful. Joann’s Fabrics & Crafts doesn’t carry zippers in the right sizes, colors or weights. (Don’t get me started on how much I detest shopping at Joann’s. Really. It would be a never-ending rant.)

Spring Fling

Since a girl can never have too many projects going at once, I also started working on a pair of socks, which will be my entry in Alison’s Spring Fling Knit Along. I’ll be using Opal Lollipop sock yarn in one of the brighter colorways. I’m obeying the voice of my inner child in knitting something so brightly colored smile

Prego…it's in there!

My doctor’s appointment went fine. I was 70% effaced, but haven’t dilated anymore. I have another appointment on Monday.

So, today, I did it. I ate eggplant parmesan. This is one old wives’ tale that I hope proves correct ;)
