Happiness Is…
Good news! We took Claire to the doctor this morning for a weight check and she’s gained 10 ounces! She has been eating well every couple of hours, which means I don’t get to sleep very much. That’s not a big problem since I’m much happier knowing that she’s getting the nourishment she needs. We’ll take her back to the doctor again next week for another weight check. Hopefully, she’ll have regained her birth weight by then. The goal is for her to gain about an ounce per day.
My mothers-in-law will be leaving tomorrow and Robert will be attending his first day of classes at the university, so I’ll be on my own with both kids for the first time. It will be interesting to see how that goes.
So far, Sam has adjusted to having a baby sister very well. He brings her blankets and pacifiers and likes to watch when we change her diaper or when I feed her. He’s also tried brushing her hair. I have to hover over him when he takes care of her because he can be a little too…enthusiastic…about whatever he’s doing. I do wonder if his attitude will change a little after the grandmas leave since he won’t be getting quite as much attention then.
I’ve been working on the story of Claire’s birth and will post it soon. It won’t be a literary masterpiece since I don’t have the brainpower right now to write very well. My goal is simply to preserve some of the details from that long and wonderful night.
Knitting News:
I’m almost done with the Sporty Jacket I’m making for my son and will post a photo of it soon–if no more terrible accidents occur like the one that happened last night. I shouldn’t have worked on the darn thing when I was so impossibly tired, but I thought the innocuous job of weaving in ends wouldn’t be too difficult. Wrong! I accidentally cut off a tail I hadn’t woven in…so now I’m faced with trying to figure out how to secure a short little bit of yarn so the stitches don’t unravel. My mother thinks I can work some magic with sewing thread. I’ll give it a try. *sigh*
I’m eagerly anticipating the arrival of a box of Rowan Calmer which I ordered from the Knitting Garden last week. I’m going to be joining the Audrey Knitalong. It such a beautiful sweater and the yarn is lusciously velvety. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep up with the other knit-alongers despite the sleep deprivation I’ll be contending with for the next several months. Wish me luck ![]()
