Good vs. Evil
Doesn’t this sweet little  deserve a special gift?

…especially since he came home last night with a wonderful report from his daycare teacher. Sam may be a  at times, but he has a very definite angelic streak through him as well. A little girl in his class was struggling to get a toy out of the toybox and he stopped what he was doing, retrieved the toy and handed it to her. No one asked him to do this. He just saw that she was in need of a helping hand. Of course, when I heard about this, I started crying. Blame it on the hormones.
With my heart suffused with pride in my baby boy, I finally cast-on for the sporty jacket I’ve been meaning to make for him. The pattern calls for Debbie Bliss merino aran, which is a rather thick yarn with a lot of body. I’ve had a  of a time trying to knit to gauge. When knit with the recommended needles, my swatch came out HUGE. I tried going down one size and the swatch was still a little bit big (1/2 a stitch too many and a row too short). I went down another needle size, but then my swatch was too small. :faint: I usually knit pretty close to gauge, so I’m not sure what’s going on here. I’m going to try knitting the garment with the needles which are one size smaller than those recommended and *hope* that the difference isn’t too pronounced. I don’t think row gauge is too critical with this pattern since there’s minimal shaping. I’ll just knit until I think it’s long enough. Wish me luck! :rainbow:
