Strip Tease

General January 28th, 2003

Sam’s notorious for pulling off his shoes and socks almost as soon as you get them on his feet. Oftentimes, you’ll see him running around the house with one foot in a sock and shoe and the other completely bare.

He’s recently taken to removing more than just footwear. Just the other day, I dressed him in a somewhat large t-shirt and he had that thing off in the blink of an eye. I put the shirt back on him, worried that he would get cold. He wriggled out of it again–and again–and again. Eventually, I gave up trying to keep him dressed and let him run around topless.

This morning, I dressed Sam in a cute little pair of overalls. I turned away from him briefly to pack his bag. When I looked back at him, I was dismayed and amused to find that he had his pants down around his ankles. Goodness grief!

I have the very best husband in the world. :hearthrob:

For my birthday, we got all dressed up and he took me out to dinner at Salty’s, one of my favorite seafood restaurants. I love Salty’s not only because the food and service are good, but because it’s a romantic place for two people to share a meal. The view of Puget Sound and the Seattle skyline is unparalleled! Robert and I have sentimental associations about the place as well, since it’s where we went to celebrate our first honeymoon.

We had a wonderful time. I can’t remember the last time we spent time together just talking and laughing and looking at one another lovingly. Between working and taking care of our baby, we have neglected our relationship a little bit, which I suspect is natural enough and happens to many couples during the first years of parenthood. It was nice to rekindle that spark that exists between us–nice to remember why we are special to one another.

While we were waiting for the next course to arrive, Robert reached in his jacket and pulled out an envelope. As he handed it to me, my heart was hammering away. For over a month now, Robert had been hinting that he was going to be giving me an amazing present for my birthday. I didn’t have the slightest clue as to what it could be, but then I looked at the envelope and willed my eyes to focus on the print. Inside were two tickets to see Don Pasquale. I burst into tears. :(

I was touched that he would do something like that. You see, I LOVE the opera. Robert enjoyed the last one we attended, but he’s not the nut about that kind of thing that I am. He’d much rather go see a basketball game. So, he gave me something very special indeed, something he knew I would really appreciate. He was willing to give up a night in comfortable clothes relaxing in front of the TV or playing video games. The gift showed me that he really cared about me and my happiness. I DO have the best husband in the world :lovestruck:

So, we were out MUCH later than I had expected. The show was wonderful! The singing and acting were divine. It was very funny too. Every time I think about the scene where the hero is startled by the chorus of servants who are spying on him as he’s singing a love song to the beautiful heroine–I can’t help but laugh! Oh what fun! I wish we could do something like that more often smile

I’m sorry about the previous post. I don’t like giving in to bouts of self-pity. I think it was the PMS talking. I haven’t had enough chocolate today, which I’m going to remedy ASAP!

There’s a lot in my life that I’m grateful for: a loving husband, a beautiful son, a nice home & a decent job. I’m delighted that I’ve got a great book–actually a trilogy–to read, which is adding fuel to my imagination. I also forgot to mention that I’ve been asked out on a date tomorrow. Robert’s taking me out to eat at a really nice restaurant. He tells me he’ll be wearing his suit. If you knew Robert very well, you’d realize that’s a big deal! He’s most comfortable in a ratty t-shirt, shorts and his Birkenstocks. Maybe I’ll take pictures smile
