Babysitter Blues

31 December, 2002 | Amy | No Comment

We desperately need a babysitter. Why are good ones so hard to come by? The lady who usually takes care of Sam can’t do it anytime soon since her house caught on fire and she and her family are living in a hotel until the place is cleaned up and the insurance money comes through. I can’t fault that excuse! A girl who lives just down the road from us can’t take care of Sam because she’s allergic to cats. My brother-in-law can’t do it because he’s sick and his work schedule is pretty tight. My brother doesn’t want to babysit because he wants to come with us… In short, we might as well wait until the movie comes out on DVD. *sigh* I wish Sam could sit through a three-hour long movie. Unfortunately, some adults I know have problems doing that! :haha:

Blow Wind, Blow

28 December, 2002 | Amy | No Comment

People have been in a tizzy over the weather forecast. We?re supposed to have very strong winds blowing through here any time now. People must be really bored to get this worked up over a winter storm. It?s not as if a hurricane is coming or Mount Saint Helens is starting to rumble again. I grew up in southwestern Wyoming where 75 mph winds were common. We made jokes about not opening both doors of your car at once for fear you?d end up taking off as if you were in an airplane.

I can hear the wind starting to blow outside. The building will probably start to sway like it does in these storms and people in the outer offices (I?m in the middle of the building?no window office for me!) will start taking Dramamine to help ward off motion sickness. When you?re this high up in the sky and the winds start a blowin?, it is a little bit like being in a storm-tossed boat.

So, what the heck is up with my weather plugin on the sidebar. It says it?s mostly sunny here. Weird. It?s anything BUT sunny.
