Hodge Podge

Uncategorized November 19th, 2002

We did the dirty deed, yesterday. We cut Sam’s hair. We bought some clippers from Fred Meyer and mowed off all his pretty, but extremely long curls. Now, he looks like a little marine, rather than a baby with a mullet. LOL!

I still feel really tired. I suspect it’s a combination of having been ill and not sleeping enough lately. I must force myself to bed earlier. It’s so hard though, because I feel like the only personal time I get is late at night when Sam’s asleep and all the household chores are taken care of.

I’m unhappy about being at work today. There are a million things I’d much rather be doing. Work isn’t awful–but it’s not fun either. Sometimes, I feel a terrible longing for the hopeful outlook and grand ambitions I had when I was twenty. I imagined I would be doing great things, meeting great people, thinking great thoughts. I dreamt about romance. I wonder what happened to all of that. Is it just that I’m getting older and the routine of working, paying bills, caring for a small child and coping with the ups and downs of marriage deprive me of any time to devote to those grand things? I don’t know. I just miss that way of being, sometimes.

Runaround

Sam’s been a whirling dervish this morning. First thing he did was purloin the novel his father had been reading and dumped it into the toilet. What an auspicious start to the day!

Since then, he’s chased the cat, knocked over the jade plant in the living room, stood on top of the piano, and climbed on our canister vacuum cleaner for a ride while I was trying to tidy up the house. So, this is what life is like with a toddler. Hmm. I hope I survive.

I’m making a lot of progress with the new design for Quixotic Pixels. I really like how it’s turning out. People at the pixelitas and graphic goo have been of tremendous help as I’ve worked to put the finishing touches on it. All I have left to do is to fix the automatic downloading script. I also want to create a Christmas/winter set or two before I open doors so I have something new to offer people. I can’t wait to show everyone!

Cookie Photos

There are a few new photos up in the photoblog. Don’t miss the shots of Sam eating Oreo cookies. Just looking at them makes me laugh.
