About the Tree…

1. When do you put up the Christmas Tree? The first or second week in December.
2. Real or Fake? Real
3. Lights? Yes, the rainbow variety.
4. Garland? In the past, we’ve used a garland of red and gold stars–since it’s rather fragile and we have a vigorous one-year old to consider, I don’t think we’ll be using that this year. We may string popcorn.
5. Theme or no theme? No theme. I like the eclectic look smile
6. What kind of topper? A fancy blown glass bulb-type thing. It’s pretty.
7. What is your favorite ornament? I have a favorite set of ornaments: Blown glass figurines of characters from the Wizard of Oz.
8. What does your tree skirt look like? It’s quilted using Christmas fabrics which are mainly cream and dark green.
9. Where do you put your tree? In our living room next to the entertainment center.
10. Who decorates the tree? I do. That kind of activity doesn’t appeal to Robert at all. I hope Sammy will help me once he’s a little older.
11. What’s “under” the tree? We put the gifts under the tree. My parents have a wonderful train set they put under theirs. I’d like to have one some day.
12. Do you put candy canes on your tree? Yes–I think we still have the candy canes we used last year. No one here eats the things. LOL!

About the Food…

1. What’s your favorite Christmas cookie? Gingerbread cookies.
2. Do you bake cookies and give them away? Yes, we give them to friends and take some to work.
3. Any “special” foods or candy that you only have at Christmas? Potica–a Slovinian honey-nut bread. I should post the recipe, because it’s absolutely delicious and I’m sure others would enjoy it as well.
4. What do you eat on Christmas Eve? It varies from year to year.
5. What do you eat on Christmas Day? Either turkey or some sort of fancy beef dinner, i.e. prime rib.
6. Do you like eggnog? Yes, in small quantities.
7. Do you like candy canes? Not really. They look pretty though!

About the decorations…

1. Where do you hang your stockings? By the fireplace.
2. Do you put lights on your house? Yes, we put up multi-colored “icicle” lights. They’re very festive!
3. Got any outside lawn decorations? Nope.
4. Do you put up a nativity (creche)? No.
5. Do you hang mistletoe under the doorway? No, but I *should.* It’d be a great way to get more kisses from my husband smile
6. Got a wreath up on your front door? Yes, a fresh evergreen one.
7. How long does it take you to decorate? A day or so…

About the movies/shows…

1. Favorite children’s Christmas TV show/cartoon? Rudolph.
2. A Wonderful Life/Miracle on 34th Street/A Christmas Carol… which is the best? A Christmas Carol
3. Favorite Christmas Movie? See above smile
4. Have you ever seen the Nutcracker Suite Ballet live? Yes! Several times. It’s a wonderful ballet smile
5. Ever been to the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Show? Nope.
6. Ever gone to a movie on Christmas Day? No.
7. Did you know it’s the biggest day of the Box Office? No, but that’s interesting…

Other Christmas Things…

1. Favorite Christmas book or story? The Night Before Christmas
2. Do you stuff your stockings with any type of food? Fruit
3. Do you go to church on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day? I used to go to Midnight Mass. I haven’t been to church in years, though.
4. Have you ever gone caroling? Yes, when I was younger.
5. Favorite Christmas carol? Oh Little Town of Bethlehem
6. Do you believe in Santa? Of course. ; )
7. Do you leave Santa cookies? Of course!
8. What about Rudolph, do you leave him anything? No, but that’s certainly a nice idea!
9. What was your best Christmas gift? It’s hard to say, since I’ve received so many wonderful gifts over the year. The Barbie Doll house I received when I was a little girl stands out in my memory though…
10. What was the worst/most odd gift? The oddest gift I ever received were spark plugs for my car.
11. Do you go to a “work” Christmas party? We have gone to work parties the past couple of years. We were going to go to mine this year, but now I’m not so sure. You see, at the last minute, they changed their minds about allowing kids to attend. I’m kind of irritated. Holidays are for spending with your family and friends. I don’t WANT to leave Sam behind. Maybe I’ll get over my irritation and go anyway. I need to think about it. If we do decide to go, we’ll have to find a babysitter.
12. Do you hate going? It’s sort of a love-hate thing for me. I like going and would be disappointed not to, but they’re also a stressful situation for me since I’ve never been very comfortable in those types of social gatherings.
13. Do you send Christmas cards (handmade or bought)? Store bought. I’d like to make something by hand, but haven’t had the time for it during the past couple of years.
14. Do you make a “list”? Yes–I’m a list maker. I have lists for everything!
15. Do you check it twice? But of course!
16. Have you been “naughty” or “nice”? I’ve been a good girl this year!
17. Who’s on your list this year? I’d like to give something to everyone, but usually reserve the real gifts for close family members.
19. Do you shop on Black Friday? No way.
20. Are you ready for Christmas? I’m having a difficult time getting in the mood for the holiday this year. When I think about all that needs to be done, it stresses me out.
