Super Hero
Uncategorized June 22nd, 2002
When Sam’s father was a little boy, his mother made him a Superman costume out of a blue pair of longjohns. Apparently, he loved the outfit a great deal and was often seen running around in it. When Robert’s mother last visited us, she gave Sam a Superman outfit much like the one his father wore.
Also pictured below is a photograph of an ethnic outfit my best friend sent Sam after her travels in Thailand. Sam loves pulling on the beads and playing with the dangling bells.
Sam’s other favorite suit is his birthday suit. He loves being naked
Friday Five
Uncategorized June 21st, 2002
This week’s Friday Five:
1. Do you live in a house, an apartment or a condo? We live in a three-bedroom house.
2. Do you rent or own? We own our home.
3. Does anyone else live with you? My husband, son and cat. My brother is temporarily living with us while he looks for a job.
4. How many times have you moved in your life? I was born in Rock Springs, Wyoming. When I was just starting fourth grade, we moved to Kalispell, Montana. Two years later we moved to Casper, Wyoming. Several years later, we moved to Walla Walla, Washington. I graduated from high school there and then went on to college in Seattle. I only lasted a year there (didn’t like it) and moved to Santa Fe, NM to attend a small liberal arts college. I stayed there four years, but lived in several different places. Once I graduated, I moved to Montana where my parents were now living. I lived in Missoula for a couple of years while I took my teacher’s education courses. While I was there, I fell in love with a certain person who lived in Seattle. He induced me to move there after I graduated…which I did. We’ve lived in four different places here. So, I’ve moved quite a few times!
5. What are your plans for this weekend? On Saturday, I’m throwing a baby shower for my friend, Laura. Other than that, we just want to relax. ![]()
Catching Up
Uncategorized June 20th, 2002
My parents left on Monday morning. As always, we had a nice time visiting with them. They are a fun pair to be around
I feel a bit guilty, though, because everytime they come to visit, they end up helping us finish some of the projects around our house that we have going. I don’t know how it happens…one minute we’re catching up on all the news and watching the baby’s antics, and the next we’re engaged in some major project. This time it was cleaning off the roof and cleaning out the gutters, power washing our deck and planting more flowers in our yard. Robert even cleaned out the garage and took a load of junk to the dump. I can’t believe how much better everything looks! But my poor parents! They worked like slaves…
Will, my brother, has moved in with us temporarily as he looks for a job in the area. He’s having a difficult time finding something. It’s difficult getting started when you don’t have much work experience and the work experience you do have is mostly seasonal stuff–like working in a photo processing lab where most of the work is for local schools. Once summer came, he was out of a job. I helped him polish his resume and Robert’s been giving him interviewing tips. Hopefully we can help him get his foot in the door.
Will is really easy to live with. He cleans up after himself, helps out with Sam and doesn’t ask for a whole lot. I’m enjoying having him around, but I’m sure he wishes he were in his own place and happily employed. Hopefully that will happen for him soon.
The biggest challenge we’re facing with Will being here is transportation. He left his truck in Montana because it’s not currently licensed. In order for us all to get where we need to go during the day, we have to play musical cars. In the morning, Will drives us to the daycare where we drop off Sammy, then he takes me to the bus stop. He has to be home at 3:00 so Robert can use the car to pick up the baby. In the meantime, Will drives Robert’s pickup to the bus stop and leaves it there for me. Robert picks up Will and they all go home. Confused? We have been! Yesterday, they forgot to leave a vehicle at the bus stop for me. LOL! I was stranded. Luckily there was a phone booth across the street which I used to call them up ![]()
