Not My Fault
Knitting May 21st, 2002
Does this disclaimer printed on the bottom of a knitting pattern seem as funny to you as it does to me:
?Every effort has been made to have instructions accurate and complete. We cannot be responsible for variance of individual knitters and crocheters, human errors or typographical mistakes.? [emphasis added]
OK. I can see where they?re coming from with regard to the variance of individual knitters, but if we?re paying for this pattern, shouldn?t they be held accountable for typographical mistakes???
Caught in the Web

I wasn’t all that excited about going to see Spider Man, but went anyway because it meant time alone with my other half–and that’s a rare commodity these days. While it’s been marketed to the nth degree just like all the other movies based on comic books, it didn’t overwhelm me with its nature as a commercial product. The story actually captured my imagination and the special effects were fun & appropriate at the same time. It’s almost impossible not to feel a little vertigo as Spiderman is swinging from building to building. What made this different than a lot of the superhero movies is how humorous it was. Who didn’t laugh at the lunchroom scene where Peter snagged a lunch tray with one of his webs, flung it at the class bully and then tried to make a break for it with the tray and his web trailing behind? Or when he first noticed that he no longer needed glasses and was significantly more muscular than before? Very cute! A couple of the scenes were shocking enough to make me leap into Robert’s lap. Thus, it’s a very good movie to take your date to if you want her to get a little closer to you!
Afterwards, we picked up Sam from the babysitter’s and went to Red Robin for dinner. Sam loooves to go out to eat. He cranes his neck around a full 360 degrees in order to see everything that’s going on around him and to study all the people–who, of course, immediately fall under his spell. This was Sam’s first opportunity to taste a hamburger and french fries. He wasn’t all that enthused about them, unless you count how much he enjoyed flinging the bite-sized pieces onto the floor.
All in all it was a pretty fun day!
