Cheryl inspired me to try listing 100 things about me.

1. My maiden name was Stanton.

2. I did not change my last name when I got married.

3. Nevertheless, everybody on both sides of my family refers to me as Mrs. Nelson.

4. Some family members mis-spell my first name. I do not spell Amy with an i-e.

5. My feelings are hurt easily.

6. I am very shy until you get to know me.

7. I love cats.

8. I am not fond of dogs.

9. The last dog I truly loved was an Irish wolfhound named Annie. She died from cancer.

10. I’m a chocoholic.

11. I love hazelnut lattes.

12. I didn’t drink coffee or eat chocolate when I was pregnant with Sam.

13. I thought I had the stomach flu when I first experienced morning sickness.

14. It did not occur to me that I might be pregnant until a co-worker jokingly suggested that I might be.

15. I graduated second in my class in high school.

16. I earned two BA’s.

17. I graduated with a 3.97 GPA in classics (Ancient Greek, philosopy, etc.).

18. I graduated with a 4.0 and Honors in English (with a teaching emphasis).

19. I taught seventh grade English for one year.

20. I loved it.

21. I changed careers because I wasn’t earning enough to live on.

22. I went to night school to become a certified paralegal.

23. I thrive in a fast-paced high-stakes work environment.

24. I wish I could spend more time with my son.

25. I met my husband online.

26. We were married at my parents’ home in western Montana.

27. I love to read.

28. I played the piano.

29. I wish we could afford to rent/buy a piano so I could play again.

30. I played the French horn when I was in high school.

31. I enjoy baking bread by hand.

32. I have never had a good loaf of bread from a bread machine.

33. I like to knit.

34. I would like to have one more child.

35. I’m curious about what it would be like to have a girl baby.

36. Boy babies are a lot more fun than I had anticipated.

36. I love being a mom.

37. I miss being pregnant.

38. My favorite colors are deep and rich like red, green or violet.

39. I’m turning 30 on Monday.

40. I feel like I’m only 20.

41. I rarely wear makeup.

42. I hate shopping for clothes.

45. Well, okay, I like going to book stores.

48. I enjoy listening to classical music.

51. My best friend is a marine.

52. Most of my good friends live far away.

53. I dislike exercising.

54. I am a neat freak.

55. Lately, I haven’t had much energy or time for cleaning.

56. I have struggled with an eating disorder.

57. Because of it, I spent close to two months in a hospital.

58. I was raised as a Catholic.

59. At one time, I considered becoming a nun.

60. I do not believe in God.

61. I feel uncomfortable speaking about religion.

62. I had several serious relationships while I was in college (not at the same time).

63. My first serious relationship ended in catastrophe when my boyfriend moved out of state without telling me he was going to do so.

64. The first time my husband and I met in person, he brought along his girlfriend of the time.

65. It was a bit awkward, to say the least.

66. We couldn’t stop staring at one another.

67. I’m allergic to penicillin and sulfa drugs.

68. I like hiking and camping.

69. My parents took me camping when I was only eight months old.

70. My dad carried me in a backpack while he was fishing.

71. My favorite outdoorsy-type thing is to go huckleberry picking.

72. I love huckleberry pie!

73. I’ve seen several bears in the wild.

74. The most awesome creature I’ve seen in the wild is a mountain lion.

75. I spent one summer at Cambridge University in England studying Shakespeare.

76. When I was 18, I bicycled through northern France.

77. I spent two weeks in Japan.

78. I still correspond with Naho, one of my hosts. She is going to have a baby in May.

79. I always have a favorite sweater…one I wear nearly every day.

80. The only jewelry I wear is my wedding ring.

81. In college, I wore skirts and dresses all the time.

82. Now I rarely wear either.

83. I had red hair when I was a baby.

84. I wish I were brave enough to dye it red now.

85. I learn languages easily.

86. I speak French.

87. I can read ancient Greek with the help of a dictionary.

88. I can recite the first 50 lines or so of Chaucer’s introduction to the Canterbury Tales (in Middle English).

89. Linguistics was one of my favorite college courses.

90. I don’t cook dinner very often.

91. I usually eat TV dinners.

92. I have green eyes.

93. I have a birthmark on my left knee (so does my husband).

94. According to my husband, I’m a computer geek (funny, considering he’s a network administrator).

95. I like plants.

96. I wish I had a green thumb.

97. I like basketball.

98. I don’t like the Lakers (go Alan Iverson!! go Vinsanity!!)

99. Bach and Brahms are two of my favorite composers.

I’m having a great deal of trouble coming up with the last item. Several suggestions have been made (by my husband and five month old son). Here are some of the ideas they gave me:

A. I hate it when my hair gets in my face.

B. Ah-goo!

C. I hate it when my husband tracks pine needles in the house.

D. I would never force anyone to eat raw sewage.

E. I really like to end on a good note.

Since I really wanted to end on a good note, I guess I’ll have to go with “D.”
