It seems like the more

Published by Amy at 1:06 am under Knitting

It seems like the more that I have going on in my life, the less I have to say. A lot of exciting (at least to me) things have happened since I last wrote, but I’ve never been able to bring myself to write about them. It’s too hard to know where to start. To appease the angry blog gods, I’ll post a synopsis of all that’s happened recently:

* Robert and I painted the baby’s room egg shell blue with ivory trim. It’s very pretty! We also put together the crib my parents bought for us. The nesting urge is really growing stronger grin

* I was tested for gestational diabetes a couple of weeks ago. Other moms had warned me how horrible the glucose beverage is that they make you drink…but no warning could actually prepare me for the reality. At least they chilled it. I can’t imagine what it would have been like if it had been warm. Ewwwww. Anyway, I passed the test with flying colors. They did discover, however, that my blood is low on iron, which explains the debilitating fatigue I’ve been combatting. And all along, I just thought it was part of pregnancy. Now that I’m taking an iron supplement, I understand the difference between being weary and fatigued. Weary I can cope with. Fatigued…that’s a different story altogether.

* I finished the baby’s blanket that I’ve been knitting. There are a couple of problem spots in it, but I’ve vowed not to beat myself up over them. Now, I’m looking for another fun project to take on. Perhaps I’ll knit a couple of hats for the little guy.

* I tried designing birth announcements using rubber stamps and some fancy paper. Unfortunately, they looked like a first-grader’s art project gone horribly wrong. Guess I’ll have to stick with ordering them from the professionals. *sigh* And I wanted something personal…from the heart.

* Robert’s performance review went really well. He got a whopping 8% raise. I’m so proud of him!

* I’ve been moved from the secretarial station where I used to sit to a much more private cubical in the “war room.” This was supposed to be an honor for me…and I’ll read it that way. Still, it’s hard to resist joking about people becoming tired of looking at my ever-expanding pregnant form and wanting to hide me in some remote spot.

* Yesterday, one of the law firm’s partners, an associate and the human resources manager informed me that I would be promoted to a full paralegal (now, I’m an entry-level “litigation assistant”) once I returned from maternity leave. In addition, I would be receiving a substantial raise. In the meantime, I will begin training a new girl who they had hired to take over my old position. Needless to say, I was shocked…and extremely pleased. I guess this means they want me to come back *g*
