Bridget Jones

At ten minutes to seven, Robert and I sped northwards looking for the Crest Theatre where we hoped to see some artsy film that had received good reviews. We must have taken a wrong turn somewhere, and ended up way too far north. By chance, we drove by another theatre in that neighborhood and decided to see whatever was playing there. Knowing absolutely nothing about it, we chose The Diary of Bridget Jones. Both of us were convinved that it was going to suck. The posters made it look like just another sacharine love story. We were both happily surprised by the film. While it WAS a love story, its wittiness made it something special. We laughed a lot and grew to sympathize deeply with the heroine. And of course we couldn’t help acting even more lovey-dovey around one another than we normally do…something about touching stories like that never fails to infect us. I’m going to have to search for the book upon which the film was based.
