Among the myriad of dreams I have had about what I wanted to be when I grew up, the dream about being a writer resurfaces the most frequently. Others, such as my desire to be a famous opera star or the first woman president of the U.S.died once and for all when I realized how [...]

Just about one year ago, Seattle was in utter chaos. Police sirens, angry jeers, steady chanting, the beat of drums, breaking glass, querelous cries and the occasional report of crowd quelling grenades… I’ll never forget the forbidding appearance of the national guard standing in ordered ranks down the city streets. I’ll never forget the siege [...]

The old Stanton-Nelson household is finally quieting down. My parents left early this morning, all bundled up for their drive over Snoqualmie Pass and down into the chilly snow-covered landscape of Idaho and Western Montana. My brother, Will, is still here, hanging out with Robert and Zora in the TV room. It’s so nice to [...]

    Jane Austen
"Woman is fine for her own satisfaction alone. No man will admire her the more, no woman will like her the better for it. Neatness and fashion are enough for the former, and a something of shabbiness or impropriety will be most endearing to the latter."

    • February Lady Sweater 14 March 2014

02/17/13 - It’s definitely on the small side. I would prefer more ease, but think I’ll get some wear out of this sweater. I also think it may have been a poor choice in project for me. While it was fun to knit, the FO reminds me a little too much of maternity wear. On to BIGGER and BETTER things :)

02/12/13 - Unblocked, this fits my 8 yo daughter. Hopefully, it will fit me post-blocking. I don’t usually use this many pins when blocking a sweater, but I’m determined to boss my knitting around.

If it fits me, when done, then that’s ok. If it fits my daughter when done, that’s ok too. If it fits neither of us, I’m going to be a sad little knitter.

When I cast on for this, I was concerned about the super wash yarn growing a lot during the blocking process. Now that I’ve mostly knit the sweater, I’m concerned that it’s not going to grow enough. It’s rather small.
