This morning just didn't start

This morning just didn’t start out well. I got up late, missed my regular bus and consequently arrived downtown a half-an-hour late. Trying to make up time, I ran straight on past the coffee bar where I usually get a latte before continuing on to work. I was even more upset at being late because I was supposed to attend an Access training session in the Columbia Tower. It’s one thing to be late for work where I can usually slip in without inconveniencing anyone else. It’s another thing to be late for a class. My entrance would interrupt the instructor and distract the students. Moreover, I would have to catch up with whatever it was they were doing which most likely would have held up the class even further.
In my haste to locate the site of the training session, I got on the wrong elevator and spent way too much time trying to make it up to the 38th floor. The elevators are set up in such a way that you have to ride up to the 40th floor, known as the “Sky Lobby,” change elvators, ride upwards with whomever might wish to go up and then allow the elvator to go down to the 38th floor. I didn’t beat myself up too severely for not figuring it out sooner. I did beat myself up when I realized that the office I was looking for wasn’t located on the 38th floor. It was on the 34th.
So, I had to ride back up to the Sky Lobby, change elevators, go down to the more prosaicly named Fifth Avenue Lobby, change elevators, ride up to the 34th floor and storm into the training center.
I didn’t miss much. The instructor didn’t even bother to show up.
P.S. I ended up developing a rather severe headache from not having any coffee. At lunchtime, I took time out to buy a latte. Unfortunately, they scorched the milk, rendering it undrinkable.
P.P.S. Strangely enough, I’m in a good mood ![]()
